About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead workshop operations, ensuring the effective maintenance and availability of farm machinery and equipment while managing the technical team,maintenance schedules, costs and safety compliance
- Manage daily workshop operations, repairs, preventative maintenance and seasonal equipment readiness.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of tractors, trucks, trailers, agricultural machinery and heavy-duty equipment.
- Diagnose technical faults and ensure repairs meet required quality and safety standards.
- Manage major breakdowns and emergency field repairs to minimise downtime.
- Manage workshop staff, job cards, maintenance schedules and SOP compliance.
- Control workshop budgets, parts, tools, fuel, stock and supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with OHS, PPE, environmental and workshop safety requirements.
- Monitor fleet availability, maintenance costs, workshop KPIs and equipment performance.
- Work closely with Production and Technical teams to ensure machinery is ready for seasonal farming activities
What they're looking for
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma OR qualified Diesel
- Mechanic with recognised Trade Test.
- 5+ years’ workshop/maintenance management experience.
- Agricultural/heavy machinery experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with heavy-duty farm machinery and equipment.
- Computer literate, particularly MS Excel.
- Strong diesel, hydraulics & agricultural machinery knowledge.
- Excellent fault-finding & problem-solving skills.
- Preventative maintenance & job card experience.
- Welding & fabrication skills.
- Strong leadership & workshop management.
- Stock, procurement & budget control.
- Sound OHS & safety compliance knowledge.
