Our client, a distinguished hotel in Cape Town, is seeking a talented Asian Chef to join their culinary team. This role offers an opportunity to showcase creativity and authenticity in preparing a variety of Asian dishes. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for Asian cuisine, proficiency in traditional cooking techniques, and a commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.

Description

As an Asian Chef at our client's hotel, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to develop and execute Asian-inspired menus that reflect both creativity and authenticity. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and taste. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining efficiency and teamwork while upholding the hotel’s commitment to outstanding customer service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of Asian dishes, ensuring authenticity and quality.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan and develop Asian menus.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on Asian cooking techniques and menu items.
  • Monitor inventory and manage food costs effectively.
  • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of food orders.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficiency in preparing a variety of Asian dishes, with a focus on authenticity.
  • Knowledge of traditional Asian cooking techniques and ingredients.
  • Previous experience as an Asian Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Asian origin preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.

 

Work Hours: 176 hours per month - Shifts to be advised

 

Salary: R16,000 per month
