Our client, an award-winning ultra-luxury safari lodge, is seeking an exceptional Assistant General Manager to join its senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing all Front of House and lodge operations while ensuring world-class guest experiences and operational excellence across the property.

 

This opportunity is ideally suited to a hospitality professional with a proven background in ultra-luxury 5-star safari lodges who thrives in intimate, high-end environments where personalised service and attention to detail are paramount.

Description

The successful candidate will support the General Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the lodge, overseeing Front Office, Guest Relations, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage service, lodge administration, and guest experiences. You will be responsible for maintaining exceptional service standards, coordinating daily lodge operations, mentoring departmental leaders, managing guest satisfaction and service recovery, and ensuring all operational systems and procedures are executed consistently.

 

This role requires a visible, guest-focused leader who enjoys hosting, developing people, and delivering unforgettable luxury safari experiences.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an Assistant General Manager, Lodge Manager, or senior Operations Management role within an ultra-luxury 5-star safari lodge
  • Exceptional Front of House, guest relations, and lodge operations experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
  • Excellent understanding of luxury hospitality standards and personalised guest service
  • Financial and administrative management experience
  • Experience managing multiple operational departments
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Hospitality qualification advantageous
  • Valid driver’s licence

Package on Offer

  • Salary: R35,000 – R45,000 per month (dependent on experience)
