Executive Chef – Five-Star Boutique Hotel – Zanzibar

 

We are recruiting an Executive Chef for a brand-new five-star boutique hotel in Zanzibar. This state-of-the-art property is set to soft-open in November/December 2025, with a full luxury launch in early 2026. As one of the hotel’s first Heads of Department, you will play a
pivotal role in shaping the culinary identity of this landmark opening. (Pre -Opening)


Package:

  • US$3,000 – US$4,000 net per month
  • Accommodation provided (singles only)
  • Two-year contract

The Hotel:
50 luxury keys
Multiple dining outlets including:
o Rooftop restaurant
o Signature restaurant (180 covers)
o Lounge bar and cocktail bar
o Kitchenette for mise en place

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all culinary operations across multiple outlets, ensuring exceptional quality and consistency
  • Establish and enforce robust back-of-house controls (stock, food cost, wastage management)
  • Create innovative menus that reflect both international standards and local inspiration
  • Drive excellence in plating, presentation, and guest experience
  • Work closely with bar and service teams to design thoughtful food and wine pairings, as well as menu synergy with cocktails and mixology
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a multicultural kitchen team

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have Pre-Opening Experience
  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef in multi-outlet, five-star or luxury boutique properties
  • Strong knowledge of stock control and BOH systems
  • Exceptional culinary creativity with an eye for detail and presentation
  • Ability to collaborate across departments, especially with food & beverage service teams
  • Solid understanding of wine and cocktails (not necessarily a sommelier or mixologist,but must demonstrate strong pairing knowledge)
  • Inspirational leader with a hands-on approach to team training and development
