Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially aware Front of House Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a premium hospitality outlet on a prestigious wine estate in Stellenbosch.
This is a hands-on leadership position for an accomplished hospitality professional who can take ownership of guest experience, floor operations, team performance, revenue targets and service standards within a high-calibre restaurant or wine tasting environment
Description
The Front of House Manager will take full operational responsibility for the outlet during service, ensuring the team consistently delivers polished, professional and memorable guest experiences.
You will lead from the floor, conducting daily briefings, allocating duties, monitoring service standards and providing real-time coaching and performance feedback. You will oversee opening and closing procedures, operational readiness, floor setup, service flow and collaboration between Front of House, kitchen and support teams.
Commercial accountability is an important component of the position. You will monitor sales, spend per head, upselling opportunities, stock and labour efficiency, while driving wine, tasting and retail sales. Responsibilities also include cash-up verification, stock control, bookings, functions and operational reporting.
You will be expected to confidently manage VIP guests, service recovery and complex guest interactions while protecting the standards and reputation of this premium hospitality environment.
Minimum Requirements
- 4–8 years' hospitality experience with supervisory or management responsibility
- Proven experience within a high-calibre restaurant, wine estate, tasting room or premium hospitality environment
- Strong hands-on Front of House leadership experience
- Excellent understanding of restaurant service and guest experience
- Ability to supervise, coach and hold FOH teams accountable during service
- Commercial understanding of revenue, upselling, labour efficiency and cost control
- Experience with stock control, cash-ups and operational reporting
- Strong POS system knowledge
- Wine knowledge essential; WSET Level 2 or similar training advantageous
- Confident handling VIP guests and service recovery
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Reliable transport and valid driver's licence
- Available to work weekends, public holidays and flexible hospitality hours
