An intimate, privately owned luxury lodge in Limpopo is looking for an exceptional Front of House & Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the property.

The lodge accommodates approximately 20 rooms and offers a highly personal guest experience that includes a well-established restaurant, game drives, quad-bike excursions, spa treatments and a range of bush experiences. The property is currently working towards achieving its 5-star grading, and this appointment will form an important part of that journey.

This is not a conventional, desk-based Front of House position. We are looking for an experienced hospitality operator who is visible, involved and willing to take ownership across the lodge.

In a boutique property, departments do not operate in isolation. The successful candidate must be comfortable stepping in wherever required and ensuring that anything affecting guests, staff, standards or the financial performance of the lodge is properly addressed.

Description

• Oversee the daily Front of House and general lodge operation.
• Maintain warm, attentive and professional guest service throughout the property.
• Manage reception, reservations, guest arrivals and departures.
• Ensure that the PMS, booking and POS systems are used accurately.
• Lead, support and hold the operational team accountable.
• Oversee housekeeping standards and conduct regular room inspections.
• Monitor restaurant and bar operations, service standards and guest satisfaction.
• Manage stock control, inventory, purchasing and supplier processes.
• Oversee cash-ups, reconciliations and basic financial controls.
• Monitor expenditure and identify areas where costs or waste can be reduced.
• Complete operational reports and maintain accurate administrative records.
• Follow up on maintenance concerns and ensure that problems are fully resolved.
• Coordinate effectively between departments and keep ownership informed of significant operational matters.
• Identify problems early, make sound decisions and follow through until the required result has been achieved.
• Support the lodge’s progression towards 5-star service and operational standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven Front of House, Duty Management or lodge-management experience within a professionally managed hotel, lodge or boutique property.
• Broad operational experience extending beyond reception and guest relations.
• Strong knowledge of reservations, PMS and POS systems.
• Experience managing staff, service standards and daily operational performance.
• Sound understanding of housekeeping, restaurant and bar operations.
• Good stock-control, purchasing and inventory-management skills.
• Experience with cash-ups, reconciliations, reporting and expenditure control.
• Strong administrative and organisational ability.
• Excellent guest-relations and problem-solving skills.
• High levels of integrity, accountability and attention to detail.
• The confidence to make independent operational decisions while recognising when a matter should be escalated.
• A genuinely hands-on approach and the willingness to become involved wherever the operation requires support.

 

We are particularly interested in an owner-minded individual who notices what needs attention without waiting to be told. You should be someone who checks, follows up and makes certain that problems have been completely resolved rather than merely reported.

Live-In Requirement

This is a live-in position. Accommodation suitable for one employee is provided on the property. Candidates must be comfortable living independently under this arrangement.

Remuneration

R25,000–R30,000 gross per month, depending on experience, qualifications, operational ability and overall suitability.
