Our client, a leading international branded hotel in Cape Town, is seeking an experienced General Manager to take full responsibility for the strategic, operational and financial leadership of the property. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, this is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially focused hotelier with proven experience within branded International portfolios. This permanent role offers a salary of approximately R85,000 - R100,000 per month, depending on experience, with an immediate start available.
Description
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional guest experiences while driving profitability, operational efficiency and brand excellence. As the leader of the property, you will be responsible for developing and mentoring department heads, implementing strategic business initiatives, managing budgets and financial performance, and ensuring compliance with all international brand standards.
Working closely with the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, you will oversee all operational departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Finance and Maintenance. You will champion service excellence, maximise revenue opportunities, monitor key performance indicators, maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and ensure the hotel consistently exceeds guest expectations while achieving its commercial objectives.
This role requires a highly visible, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and has the ability to balance operational excellence with strong commercial decision-making.
Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience as a General Manager within abranded International hotel is essential.
- Comprehensive knowledge of brand standards, operating procedures and hotel systems.
- Proven ability to lead the overall operations of a full-service branded hotel.
- Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control and revenue optimisation.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing multidisciplinary hotel teams.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to drive profitability and operational performance.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High standards of professionalism with a strong guest-centric approach.
- South African citizenship is essential.
- Available to commence employment as soon as possible.
