Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager to take overall responsibility for the management and day-to-day operation of a luxury Big Five safari lodge in the North West.
This is a senior property leadership role with accountability for guest experience, financial performance, people management, operational standards and compliance across all lodge departments.
Description
You will provide hands-on leadership across the lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while achieving operational and commercial objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead all lodge departments and daily operations
- Maintain exceptional luxury guest-service standards
- Drive guest satisfaction, repeat business and positive reviews
- Achieve revenue and operational performance targets
- Manage departmental expenditure and cost controls
- Drive gross operating profitability
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments
- Maintain facilities and assets to luxury lodge standards
- Lead, motivate and develop HODs and operational teams
- Manage performance, training and staff development
- Maintain a high-performance and service-driven culture
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and company procedures
- Oversee health, safety, security and operational risk
- Maintain readiness for audits, licensing requirements and inspections
- Support sustainability and environmental initiatives
The role combines commercial performance with strong guest experience, people leadership and operational accountability.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12
- Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field preferred
- Proven experience as a Lodge Manager, Hotel Manager, General Manager or Senior Operations Manager
- Strong luxury lodge or resort operational experience
- Excellent financial and budget-management ability
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple departments
- Excellent guest relations and communication skills
- Proficiency in hospitality management systems and reporting
- Strategic yet hands-on approach
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and accountability
- Flexible to work weekends, public holidays and operational hours as required
