General Manager – Luxury Lodge – Eastern Cape

 

Our client, a prestigious privately-owned luxury lodge set within a renowned Eastern Cape game reserve, is seeking an experienced and passionate General Manager to lead their dynamic hospitality team. This is a hands-on, live-in role suited to an individual who thrives in the bush, has an eye for detail, and is committed to delivering a five-star guest experience.

Description

This exclusive property offers an authentic luxury safari experience and requires a General Manager to oversee daily operations, guest relations, staff management, and business performance. The ideal candidate will be solutions-driven, people-focused, and have strong operational oversight across hospitality departments.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full operational oversight of the lodge, including front of house, F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest experience
  • Staff leadership, HR coordination, training, and scheduling
  • Budgeting, stock control, financial reporting, and cost management
  • Guest relations and hosting – ensuring seamless, memorable guest experiences
  • Coordination with the reserve team regarding conservation and activity scheduling
  • Quality control and operational excellence across departments
  • Assisting with marketing efforts, content creation, and guest communication (bonus skill)

Package:

  • Salary: R40,000 – R60,000 
  • Live-in with accommodation provided

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior lodge or hospitality management role
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Strong administrative, financial, and organisational abilities
  • Hospitality or culinary qualification (for Chef applicants)
  • FGASA and PDP (for Guide applicants)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with reservation and stock systems
  • A genuine passion for the bush and sustainable tourism
