We are seeking a skilled and dependable Handyman to support the maintenance team in ensuring that all property facilities, systems, and assets are kept in pristine condition. This role is key to sustaining the operational reliability, safety, and presentation that underpin Elephant Point’s reputation for exclusivity, authenticity, and refined African hospitality.

Description

Job Purpose

 

To carry out maintenance duties across Elephant Point, ensuring all facilities, equipment, and systems are functional, safe, and maintained to the highest standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

General Maintenance & Repairs

  • Repair furniture, cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, and windows.
  • Carry out elementary painting, varnishing, and polishing as required.
  • Inspect and complete minor repairs on electrical systems such as refrigeration controls, TV sets, and lighting.
  • Conduct routine checks and minor repairs on plumbing systems, including pipelines, toilets, and sinks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on plumbing and electrical systems.

 

Operational Support & Standards

  • Ensure maintenance standards and service delivery requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean, tidy, and hazard-free condition.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are properly handled, stored, and maintained.
  • Support other maintenance and operational tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager or General Manager.

 

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, licences, and Elephant Point policies relevant to the maintenance function.
  • Participate in company induction, refresher, audit, and service measurement programmes.
  • Act on audit outcomes to support departmental performance and compliance.

 

Team & Collaboration

  • Share and promote team values of loyalty, trust, and respect.
  • Liaise with the Maintenance Manager and collaborate with colleagues across departments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, maturity, and emotional intelligence in all interactions.
