Our client, a prestigious luxury safari lodge in the Eastern Cape, is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead their kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative culinary professional with a strong background in 5-star lodge or luxury hospitality environments.

 

 

Description

The Head Chef will take full responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences that align with luxury lodge standards. This includes menu planning, food preparation, stock control, and maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and presentation.

 

You will lead and mentor the kitchen team, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and creativity across all meals. A strong focus on guest satisfaction is essential, with the ability to cater to diverse dietary requirements and deliver personalised dining experiences for international guests.

 

The role also requires effective cost control, supplier management, and maintaining kitchen systems to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

 

Salary: R30,000 per month
Location: Eastern Cape (Live-in position)

Minimum Requirements

• Formal cheffing qualification
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a luxury lodge or 5-star environment
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent knowledge of stock control, food costing, and kitchen administration
• Ability to work in a remote, high-pressure environment
• Passion for high-quality, fresh, and seasonal cuisine
• Strong communication and organisational skills
