Our client, a well-established and respected retail group in Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for an experienced and passionate Hot Replacement Meals (HRM), Deli & Cheese Manager to take charge of their freshly prepared food offering.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on culinary professional to lead a high-performing team and bring fresh ideas to life in a fast-paced retail environment.

 

Salary: R300,000 – R360,000 per annum

Description

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the hot foods, deli, and cheese department — from planning and production to presentation and profitability. This role blends culinary creativity with strategic leadership and requires a proactive individual who thrives in a customer-facing, retail-based kitchen environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full operational management of the deli, cheese, and hot meals sections
  • Drive food production planning and innovation in line with customer trends
  • Develop and implement new recipes and seasonal offerings
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and brand standards are upheld at all times
  • Manage, lead and train a team of kitchen and service staff
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and cost control
  • Track performance and continuously improve department profitability

Minimum Requirements

  • Culinary qualification or strong kitchen management background
  • Proven experience in a retail, deli, or supermarket food environment preferred
  • Highly creative with a passion for food and presentation
  • Excellent planning, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Strong understanding of food costings, stock control, and production systems
  • Willingness to relocate to Hilton, KwaZulu-Natal
  • Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends and holidays
