A prestigious lodge is seeking a talented and versatile Junior Sous Chef with strong pastry skills. The ideal candidate will be adept at catering as a private chef for villa guests and will collaborate closely with a dedicated team of chefs and the Executive Chef. Description

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will play a key role in our culinary team, focusing on both pastry preparation and private catering for villa guests. Your responsibilities will include creating delightful culinary experiences for up to 10 guests in our villas and contributing to the overall culinary operations of the lodge. You will work alongside a talented team of chefs, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. A strong emphasis is placed on teamwork, creativity, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present high-quality pastry dishes
  • Cater as a private chef for villa guests (up to 10 guests)
  • Assist in the overall culinary operations at the lodge
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and the culinary team to develop and refine menus
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Participate in a 3 to 4 day cook-off as part of the selection process

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef or similar role
  • Excellent pastry skills
  • Ability to cater for private dining experiences
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Culinary degree or equivalent qualification (beneficial)

 

Benefits:

  • Free shared accommodation on-site
  • 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off leave cycle
  • Salary range: R10,000.00 to R12,000.00 per month, depending on experience
  • Three meals provided daily
  • Inclusion in the staff trust after 5 years, with profit-sharing opportunities
  • Optional provident fund after 2 years
  • Commencement date: 1st August or sooner
