Our client is seeking an experienced Lodge Operations Manager with a strong Back-of-House specialisation to join a 5-star luxury safari lodge in Zambia.
This is not primarily a Front-of-House, F&B, revenue or guest-relations role. The successful candidate will be a hands-on luxury hospitality professional whose strongest operational expertise lies in Housekeeping, Maintenance, Laundry, Stores, Property Upkeep, Procurement and BOH systems.
The role requires someone who understands exactly what happens behind the scenes to maintain exceptional five-star lodge standards every day.
Description
You will take direct responsibility for the lodge’s core BOH operations, ensuring villas, facilities, equipment and operational departments consistently meet luxury hospitality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Housekeeping, Maintenance, Laundry, Stores and related BOH departments
- Personally inspect guest villas and public areas for presentation, cleanliness and maintenance standards
- Maintain five-star standards for linen, laundry, amenities, turndowns, deep cleaning and room presentation
- Implement and monitor housekeeping SOPs, checklists and quality controls
- Manage preventative maintenance programmes, repairs and property upkeep
- Coordinate plumbing, electrical, generators, water systems, equipment and general infrastructure requirements
- Manage BOH procurement, inventory and stock control, including linen, amenities, cleaning products, maintenance consumables and operational equipment
- Develop and enforce BOH SOPs, preventative-maintenance schedules and departmental controls
- Train, supervise and hold BOH teams accountable for performance and standards
- Work closely with FOH teams to ensure behind-the-scenes operations support a seamless guest experience
Minimum Requirements
- Proven luxury safari lodge or high-end hotel operations experience
- Strong, direct Housekeeping management experience is essential
- Excellent knowledge of five-star room, suite or villa standards
- Strong Maintenance and Property Management experience
- Experience managing multiple BOH departments
- Excellent inventory, procurement and stock-control skills
- Proven experience developing and implementing operational SOPs and checklists
- Strong preventative-maintenance knowledge
- Hands-on leadership style with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience training and managing operational teams
- Remote safari lodge experience is highly advantageous
- Good overall understanding of FOH and the guest journey, while BOH must be the candidate’s primary operational strength
- Strong problem-solving ability and the self-sufficiency required for remote lodge operations
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: USD $2,500 – $3,000 per month
