Our client, a well-established 4-star hotel on the Cape Town, is seeking a reliable and practically skilled Maintenance Attendant to join their property team. This role is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who takes pride in keeping hotel facilities, guest areas and operational equipment safe, functional and well maintained.
Description
The Maintenance Attendant will assist with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities and operational equipment remain in good working condition.
Responsibilities will include carrying out preventative and general maintenance, attending to minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and building-related issues, and identifying faults requiring specialist attention. The successful candidate will also assist with routine inspections and ensure maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to the required hotel standards.
Previous hotel maintenance experience will be advantageous, as the role requires an understanding of the importance of maintaining a property's presentation, functionality and guest experience. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently, prioritising maintenance requests and responding promptly to urgent issues.
Strong attention to health and safety is essential, as is a willingness to assist across different areas of the property when required.
Salary: R33.37 per hour
Salary Review: September 2026
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Previous maintenance or handyman experience
- Hotel or hospitality maintenance experience advantageous
- Minimum 2 years' relevant maintenance experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general building maintenance
- Good understanding of preventative maintenance
- Able to identify faults and complete minor repairs
- Strong health and safety awareness
- Good communication skills
- Reliable, practical and hands-on approach
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving skills
- Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required
