Summary

Our client, a luxury boutique hotel in Mozambique, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the property. This is a live-in opportunity suited to a hands-on hospitality professional with extensive lodge maintenance experience who is passionate about preventative maintenance, operational excellence and ensuring a seamless guest experience. The position offers a net salary of R20,000 per month, live-in accommodation with meals, a 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off roster, and an immediate start.

Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will take full responsibility for the maintenance department, ensuring that all guest accommodation, public areas, staff facilities and operational infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards. The role requires a proactive, solutions-driven individual who can manage preventative maintenance programmes, troubleshoot faults efficiently and ensure minimal disruption to lodge operations.

 

Responsibilities include overseeing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems, generators, water reticulation, pumps, air conditioning, refrigeration and general building maintenance. The Maintenance Manager will also coordinate contractors where necessary, maintain maintenance schedules and records, manage maintenance stock and tools, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

 

This is a highly operational role requiring someone who thrives in a remote environment, can work independently, and takes pride in maintaining a luxury property to exceptional standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 15 years' lodge or hospitality maintenance experience.
• Proven experience in luxury lodge, boutique hotel or remote hospitality environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, generators, water systems, refrigeration, air conditioning, carpentry and general maintenance.
• Experience implementing preventative maintenance programmes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage maintenance budgets, stock and contractors.
• Comfortable working in a remote, live-in environment.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Available to start immediately.
