Our client, a well-established and respected Optometry practice in Durbanville, is seeking a dedicated and personable Optical Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting long-term opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys optics and thrives in a patient-focused environment.
The ideal candidate is gentle, teachable, and friendly, with at least 3 years of front-line optical experience. They must have excellent people skills, be fluent in Afrikaans and English, and reside in the Northern Suburbs to ensure a smooth commute.
Hours of Work:
- Tuesday – Friday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
- Monday: OFF
Remuneration:
- Basic salary: R12,000 per month

Description
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, creating a welcoming and professional environment.
- Assist patients with frame choices and explain lens options clearly.
- Manage the Optometrist’s diary efficiently.
- Verify medical aid benefits and submit claims accurately.
- Order products from labs, perform basic frame adjustments, and track incoming orders.
- Handle invoicing and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric certificate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Optical Assistant or front-line optometry staff.
- Strong communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
- Passion for optics and willingness to learn and grow within the practice.
