Summary

An established and growing optical practice in the beautiful Somerset West area is looking to welcome a motivated Junior Optical Assistant to their friendly and professional team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for patient care who is looking to build a long-term career in a supportive and well-respected practice.

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in an optical environment and enjoy working with patients while providing outstanding customer service. They will be confident assisting with the day-to-day operations of the practice, possess excellent organisational skills, and be committed to creating a positive patient experience. Fluency in both Afrikaans and English is essential.

 

What the practice offers:

  • Competitive salary of R8,000 – R10,000 per month, depending on experience.
  • Excellent work-life balance with family-friendly working hours:
  • Monday to Friday: 09:00 – 17:00
  • Saturday: 09:00 – 12:00
  • Closed on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Additional annual closure over the Christmas and New Year period, as well as the Easter weekend.

Description

  • Assisting customers with frame selection and lens options, providing expert advice on style and functionality.
  • Conducting preliminary eye tests and measurements under the guidance of our experienced optometrists.
  • Managing inventory and ensuring displays are immaculately presented to showcase our premium eyewear collections.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a seamless experience from entry to exit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Reliable transport
  • Industry-related experience
