An established optometry practice is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Optometrist to join its team in Upington, with the opportunity to also consult in Kakamas 1–2 days per week.
This is an exciting opportunity for an Optometrist who enjoys patient care, values professional growth, and is looking to build a long-term career within a supportive practice. No previous experience is required, making this an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified Optometrist.
The Position
- Based primarily in Upington, with travel to Kakamas 1–2 times per week.
- A company vehicle will be provided for travel to Kakamas.
- Kakamas is approximately a 1-hour drive from Upington.
- On Kakamas days, the Optometrist will leave Upington at 08:00, consult from 09:30–15:00, and return to Upington at approximately 16:00.
Working Hours
- Monday – Thursday: 09:00–17:00
- Friday: 09:00–18:00
- Alternating Saturdays: 09:00–16:00
- Every second Friday: 09:00–13:00
- The week in which the Optometrist has the Friday half-day will also be their Saturday off.

Description
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations and vision tests
- Diagnose and manage ocular conditions, prescribing appropriate treatments or referrals
- Provide expert advice on eyewear selection, lens options, and contact lenses
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and developments in optometry
Minimum Requirements
- Qualified and HPCSA Registered Optometrist
- Afrikaans-speaking is essential
- Strong clinical and communication skills
- Patient-focused and professional approach
- A valid driver’s licence essential
