Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and presentation of exceptional pastry offerings while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, and food safety. Working alongside an experienced culinary brigade, you will contribute to creating memorable dining experiences through precision, creativity, and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities include preparing mise en place, ensuring pastry dishes are presented according to established standards, maintaining stock levels, managing ingredient storage in line with HACCP requirements, and assisting with quality control and cost management. You will also play an important role in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient pastry section while supporting a collaborative and professional kitchen culture.
This position is ideal for a motivated pastry chef looking to further develop their skills within one of South Africa’s leading luxury hospitality environments.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 and a recognised Chef Certificate or Culinary Diploma
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a professional pastry kitchen
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP principles
- Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, reliable, and self-disciplined approach
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
- Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays
