Summary

Our client, an Island style restaurant and pub in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Restaurant/Kitchen Manager with strong administration skills to join their team. This managerial role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with high-volume restaurant experience to lead the operations of the restaurant and kitchen, ensuring efficient service delivery and maintaining high standards. The salary range for this position is R16,000 to R18,000 per month.

Description

As the Restaurant/Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of both the front-of-house and back-of-house areas. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Managing and supervising restaurant and kitchen staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Ensuring smooth operations during service hours, including running the pass and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Handling administrative tasks such as inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining records.
  • Implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations and hygiene standards in the restaurant and kitchen.
  • Monitoring and controlling food costs, wastage, and portion sizes to maximize profitability.
  • Handling customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborating with the management team to develop and implement strategies for business growth and improvement.
  • Leading by example and fostering a positive work environment conducive to teamwork and productivity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in a managerial role within a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Strong administration skills, including proficiency in inventory management and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation techniques, though formal chef training is not required.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and coach staff.
  • Reside in or near the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
  • Willingness to work a rotating schedule, including night shifts and weekends.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations with composure.
