An intimate luxury hotel in Kampala is looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to take charge of the property on an initial three-month contract.

The hotel has 15 rooms, three food and beverage outlets catering for approximately 100 guests, a spa and salon, and event and conferencing facilities for 50–60 people. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 30 staff and take responsibility for the smooth running of the entire operation.

This is a genuinely hands-on role. We need someone who is visible on the floor, comfortable working across departments and willing to step in wherever needed. It will not suit a manager who prefers to operate from behind a desk.

Description

• Oversee the hotel’s day-to-day operations across rooms, food and beverage, spa, salon, events and conferencing
• Lead, support and hold a team of approximately 30 staff accountable
• Maintain strong service and operational standards throughout the property
• Ensure the three F&B outlets operate efficiently and deliver a consistently good guest experience
• Monitor costs, stock control, staffing levels and general operational performance
• Identify problems quickly and put practical solutions in place
• Work closely with the owners and provide clear operational reporting
• Remain highly visible and engaged with both guests and staff

Minimum Requirements

What we are looking for

• Solid senior hotel operations experience, ideally within a boutique or luxury property
• Strong working knowledge of rooms, food and beverage, guest services and events
• A confident, practical manager who leads from the floor
• The ability to manage several operating areas at the same time
• Good financial awareness and sound administrative skills
• A calm, firm and fair leadership style
• Able to relocate to Kampala and start immediately
• Open to candidates of all nationalities

 

Package
US$2,000–US$3,000 net per month, depending on experience
