Our client, an internationally acclaimed luxury hospitality destination in the Cape Winelands, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join its award-winning culinary team. Description

Working closely with the Head Chef, the successful candidate will play a key leadership role in the daily operation of a high-performance kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained at all times.

 

Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring junior chefs, overseeing food preparation and service, managing stock control and food ordering, maintaining food cost controls, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Sous Chef will also assist with menu development, staff training, scheduling, and operational planning while helping to create memorable dining experiences for guests.

 

This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced luxury environment and is passionate about culinary excellence, team development, and delivering world-class cuisine.

Minimum Requirements

  • Culinary Diploma or recognised professional chef qualification
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a senior chef position within a quality-driven restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
  • Experience in stock control, food costing, and kitchen administration
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop junior team members
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Own transport and valid driver's licence preferred
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
