Our client, a well-established country hotel and safari destination in the heart of Zululand, is seeking a talented and motivated Sous Chef to join their culinary team. This live-in opportunity is ideal for a passionate chef who enjoys creating exceptional guest experiences while working within a dynamic hospitality environment that combines luxury accommodation, safari experiences, and renowned dining.

Description

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen management team to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and the consistent delivery of high-quality cuisine across all dining outlets and guest experiences.

 

Responsibilities include overseeing food preparation and service, supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, assisting with menu implementation, stock control, food costing, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations. The Sous Chef will also play an important role in staff training, kitchen organisation, and maintaining a positive and productive working environment.

 

This role requires a hands-on culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality setting and is committed to delivering exceptional food and service standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recognised culinary qualification preferred
  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie within a hotel, lodge, or restaurant environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with stock control, ordering, and food cost management
  • Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards
  • Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction
  • Willingness to live and work in a hospitality environment in Zululand

 

Package:

  • Salary: R18,000 – R20,000 per month
