Our client, a luxury boutique lodge nestled in the heart of the Overberg, is seeking a passionate and talented Sous Chef to join its dynamic culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef or an ambitious Junior Sous Chef looking to take the next step within a high-end hospitality environment that celebrates seasonal produce, locally sourced ingredients, and exceptional guest experiences.

 

Working alongside the Head Chef, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering outstanding breakfast, lunch, and dinner services while maintaining the highest culinary and operational standards.

Description

The Sous Chef will assist with the daily management of the kitchen, leading service in the Head Chef's absence and ensuring consistency in food quality, presentation, and execution. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring junior chefs, assisting with seasonal menu development, managing stock control and ordering, maintaining HACCP and food safety standards, reducing waste, and ensuring an organised and efficient kitchen environment.

 

This hands-on role requires a strong team player who is passionate about modern cuisine, sustainability, and creating memorable dining experiences for guests within a luxury lodge setting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or an experienced Junior Sous Chef or Chef de Partie ready to progress
  • Previous experience within a hotel, lodge, restaurant, or commercial kitchen
  • Formal culinary qualification preferred
  • Passion for seasonal cooking and locally sourced ingredients
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of food hygiene, HACCP, and kitchen best practices
  • Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining exceptional quality
  • Positive attitude with excellent communication and teamwork skills
