Salary: R30 000 – R35 000 per month
An established wine estate in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced, polished and marketing-oriented Tasting Room Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of its tasting room.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality and wine professional who combines strong operational management and guest service skills with a genuine flair for marketing, brand promotion and driving sales.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the complete tasting room experience, ensuring exceptional service, strong sales performance and smooth daily operations, while also managing the marketing of tasting room products, events and experiences.
Description
- Manage the daily operations of the tasting room
- Deliver an exceptional and memorable guest experience
- Lead, train and motivate the tasting room team
- Drive wine, merchandise and tasting experience sales
- Manage and coordinate marketing initiatives for the Tasting Room
- Promote tasting room events, products, experiences and special offerings
- Assist with developing campaigns and initiatives to increase footfall and customer engagement
- Build strong relationships with guests and encourage repeat business
- Manage customer queries, feedback and complaints professionally
- Oversee stock, wine and merchandise inventory
- Manage budgets, costs and general financial controls
- Maintain excellent presentation and service standards throughout the venue
- Ensure effective administration, reporting and POS procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 essential
- Hospitality qualification/degree advantageous
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar tasting room, wine estate, hospitality or related management role
- Excellent knowledge and genuine interest in the wine industry
- Strong hospitality and customer service background
- Good marketing experience and a creative, commercially minded approach
- Proven ability to drive sales and develop customer loyalty
- Strong staff management and training skills
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational ability
- Strong administrative and computer skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Experience with Commerce7 advantageous
- Confident working with POS systems
- Professional, energetic and hands-on management style
Working Hours
Wednesday – Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
Saturday & Sunday: 09:00 – 18:00
Salary: R30 000 – R35 000 per month, dependent on experience.
This position would particularly suit someone who understands that a successful tasting room is not only about exceptional hospitality, but also about creating experiences, building the brand and actively marketing the venue to drive revenue and repeat business.
