A prestigious 5-star safari lodge in the North West province is seeking an experienced and ethical Trails Guide (Lead Trails Guide qualified) to join their guiding team. This is a live-in position ideal for a passionate wilderness professional with strong experience in luxury safari guiding, walking safaris, and high-end guest experiences for international clientele.

 

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional interpretive guiding experiences, ensuring guest safety, and enhancing overall guest satisfaction. This role requires a confident, knowledgeable, and highly professional guide who understands the importance of storytelling, conservation ethics, and guest engagement in a luxury environment.

Description

The Trails Guide will be responsible for conducting guided walking safaris, interpreting wildlife behaviour, and ensuring all guest experiences are delivered to the highest safety and quality standards. You will also assist with lodge maintenance duties when not guiding, contributing to the smooth operation of the property.

 

You must be comfortable working in a remote safari environment and interacting with predominantly international guests. A strong command of English, excellent communication skills, and a calm, confident presence in the bush are essential.

 

Only ethical, reliable, and passionate guides with a deep respect for nature will be considered.

 

Package & Benefits:

  • Salary: R12,000 – R15,000 (depending on experience)
  • Live-in, fully furnished accommodation
  • Meals and uniform provided
  • 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off work cycle
  • 21 days annual leave
  • Medical Aid (Discovery KeyCare fully paid by employer after 3 months)
  • Provident Fund: 5% employer / 5% employee contribution
  • Single living only (no partners, children, or pets permitted)

Minimum Requirements

  • FGASA Level 2 / NQF4 (flexible for the right candidate)
  • Lead Trails Guide qualification (essential)
  • PDP and valid First Aid certificate
  • DEAT registration for North West Province
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a 5-star lodge environment
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Ethical guiding approach and passion for conservation
  • Trustworthy, punctual, presentable, and reliable
  • Own transport advantageous
