An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join a well-established veterinary team serving the beautiful Hermanus and Onrus communities in the Western Cape.
The practice is looking for a skilled, dedicated and professional Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working as part of a close-knit team, and is committed to maintaining high clinical standards. The successful candidate will work across both practices, with the exciting addition of new purpose-built premises coming soon, providing an excellent environment in which to grow and develop professionally.
The role includes participation in a 1-in-4 on-call rotation, making flexibility, reliability and a strong sense of responsibility essential.

Description
The Veterinary Nurse will be responsible for a diverse range of clinical and nursing duties, including:
- Providing compassionate, high-quality nursing care to hospitalised and surgical patients
- Assisting veterinarians with consultations, procedures and surgical cases
- Preparing patients for anaesthesia and monitoring them throughout procedures
- Monitoring recovering and hospitalised patients and maintaining accurate clinical records
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments
- Performing routine nursing procedures and patient assessments
- Assisting with diagnostic procedures and sample collection
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, sterilisation and infection control
- Educating and communicating with clients regarding patient care and treatment
- Supporting the veterinary team during emergency cases
- Ensuring equipment, treatment areas and clinical spaces are clean, organised and appropriately stocked
- Participating in the on-call and after-hours rota
- Contributing to a positive, professional and supportive team environment
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate will be:
- A qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse with the SAVC
- Passionate about animal welfare and providing compassionate patient care
- Professional, confident and well presented
- Dedicated to maintaining high standards of nursing care
- Comfortable working independently as well as within a collaborative team
- Calm and capable of handling emergency and high-pressure situations
- Organised, reliable and attentive to detail
- An effective communicator with clients, colleagues and veterinary professionals
- Willing and able to participate in the 1-in-4 on-call rota
- Eager to contribute positively to the continued growth of the practices
