Summary

A leading global organisation dedicated to protecting animals and improving their welfare is seeking an experienced and highly organised Volunteer Coordinator to join its team in Bethlehem.

 

The organisation reveals suffering, rescues animals in need and works to create lasting positive change. The Volunteer Coordinator will play an important role in delivering well-run, meaningful programmes for volunteers and students from around the world.

 

The Role

  • The Volunteer Coordinator will take ownership of the organisation's volunteer and student programmes, ensuring participants receive a professional and positive experience from their first enquiry through to completion.

Permanent Position | 45 Hours per Week 

The package includes:

  • R30 272.91 gross salary per month, before deductions.
  • Pension Fund: 15% company contribution and 5% employee contribution (compulsory).
  • Medical Aid: Optional, with an 80% company contribution and 20% employee contribution for the employee. Dependants may be added at the employee's own cost.
  • Birthday leave: An additional day off to enjoy around their birthday.

Description

  • Coordinating volunteer and student programmes from initial enquiry, booking and arrival through to completion.
  • Managing participant communication, schedules, bookings and programme logistics.
  • Building strong relationships with volunteers, students, donors, universities and programme partners.
  • Welcoming and supporting international participants throughout their time on-site.
  • Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of volunteer and student programmes.
  • Maintaining accurate participant records, programme information and administrative documentation.
  • Managing multiple groups, bookings, priorities and deadlines efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate will be an experienced coordinator who combines strong organisational skills with excellent communication and a genuine passion for working with people and animals.

Ideally, they will have:

  • A background in conservation, environmental science, tourism or a related field; a university qualification would be advantageous.
  • Several years of experience in volunteer or student programme coordination.
  • Experience in tourism, hospitality or working with international guests.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a multinational team.
  • A valid driver's licence; a PDP would be advantageous.
  • A strong connection to the organisation's vision and mission.
