About the role

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Optical Dispenser to join a Durban-based optical laboratory. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of optical lenses, prescriptions, coatings and laboratory processes, together with excellent attention to detail and customer-service skills. The role involves interpreting and checking prescriptions, advising customers on suitable lens options, assisting with technical queries and liaising with Optometrists and optical practices. The successful candidate will also be responsible for checking completed jobs, troubleshooting prescription and lens-related issues, and working closely with the laboratory team to ensure accurate and timely completion of jobs.   • Interpret and verify optical prescriptions accurately.
  • Advise customers on suitable lenses, coatings and optical products.
  • Provide assistance with technical optical queries.
  • Liaise professionally with optometrists and optical practices.
  • Check completed jobs for accuracy and quality.
  • Identify and assist with resolving prescription and lens-related issues.
  • Work closely with the laboratory team to ensure jobs are completed correctly and on time.
