Given the demographic of the practice, the successful candidate must be fluent in Afrikaans. A significant portion of the patient base is Afrikaans-speaking, making confident, professional and compassionate communication in Afrikaans an essential part of providing a comfortable and personalised patient experience. • The successful Optometrist will be responsible for:
• Conducting comprehensive eye examinations and driver screenings
• Assessing ocular health and identifying refractive and binocular vision abnormalities
• Prescribing corrective lenses, therapies and medication where appropriate
• Advising patients on lens options, coatings and suitable eyewear solutions
• Performing contact lens fittings and providing ongoing aftercare
• Maintaining accurate patient records while ensuring strict confidentiality
• Working closely with the front-line and dispensing teams to create a seamless patient journey
• Keeping up to date with CPD requirements, clinical developments and advances in optometric care

What they're looking for

• The practice is looking for an Optometrist who:
• Holds a Bachelor of Optometry degree
• Is registered with the HPCSA
• Has strong clinical and diagnostic abilities
• Is professional, empathetic and an excellent communicator
• Has a genuine patient-first approach and strong attention to detail
• Works confidently under pressure and enjoys being part of a team
• Has good computer literacy and sound administrative skills
• Is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and contributing positively to the practice culture
• While 1–3+ years of clinical experience is preferred, motivated new graduates with strong clinical and interpersonal skills will also be considered.
