About the role

An established and highly regarded family-owned veterinary hospital is seeking an experienced Lead Surgical Veterinarian to join its multidisciplinary team and take a leading role within its busy surgical department. Established in 1984, the hospital is a purpose-built 24-hour veterinary facility providing comprehensive medical, surgical and emergency care. With a strong commitment to excellence in veterinary medicine, patient comfort and client satisfaction, the hospital places particular emphasis on effective pain management, low-stress handling and compassionate patient care. The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and experienced small animal surgeon who enjoys a varied caseload, clinical leadership and developing others. The successful veterinarian will take responsibility for managing a diverse surgical caseload, including complex hospital cases, while providing guidance and mentorship to veterinarians and veterinary nurses within the surgical team. What the Hospital Offers Permanent full-time or part-time employment. $80–$90 per hour + superannuation, depending on experience. Equivalent annual salary of approximately $160,000–$180,000 + 12% superannuation. A diverse and rewarding surgical caseload. • Perform a broad range of small animal surgical procedures.
• Manage complex surgical and hospitalised cases from diagnosis through to recovery.
• Interpret pathology, radiography, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging.
• Develop comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnosis, treatment and patient care.
• Mentor veterinarians and veterinary nurses in surgical techniques, case management and best practice.
• Support the continued development and growth of the hospital's surgical department.
• Contribute to a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical environment focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
