About the role

An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join an established Companion Animal Practice in the beautiful coastal town of Jeffreys Bay!

The practice is looking for a veterinarian who is passionate about providing quality veterinary care, building lasting client relationships and becoming a valued member of an established team.

While candidates with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience will receive preference, motivated new graduates are also encouraged to apply, provided they are committed to developing their careers within the practice for at least three years.

This opportunity would ideally suit someone looking to put down roots in Jeffreys Bay and become part of the local veterinary community, with a view to making a long-term commitment of approximately three years or more.

Working Hours

The working schedule is structured as follows:

Monday: 08:00–13:00

Tuesday: 08:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00

Wednesday: 08:00–13:00

Thursday: 08:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00

Friday (off-duty weekend): 08:00–13:00

Friday (on-duty weekend): 08:00–13:00 and 15:00–18:00

Every second Saturday: 08:00–13:00

Veterinarians will participate in a rotational weekend duty roster, working every second weekend.

After-Hours & Emergency Responsibilities

The practice operates an after-hours emergency facility, and the successful candidate will participate in the practice's on-call system.

The on-call requirements include:

Every second on-duty weekend, including the Friday evening.

Every Tuesday and Thursday evening.

Public holidays on a fair rotational basis between the practice's veterinarians.

Occasional Sunday and public holiday attendance to monitor and treat hospitalised patients, depending on their clinical needs.

An after-hours surcharge, will be added to the monthly salary for the relevant duties.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, dependable and committed to delivering excellent patient care. Above all, the practice is looking for someone who sees this as an opportunity to establish themselves professionally and personally in Jeffreys Bay, rather than simply taking on a short-term position.

If a rewarding veterinary career in a welcoming coastal community sounds appealing, this could be the opportunity worth exploring!
