About the role

An established and busy small animal veterinary hospital in Kempton Park, East Rand, is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Small Animal Veterinarian to join its close-knit team. This practice forms part of a group of three veterinary practices that work closely together, creating a supportive environment where collaboration, knowledge-sharing and continuous professional development are encouraged. The hospital primarily cares for dogs and cats and offers a diverse range of medical and surgical cases. The Opportunity The successful candidate will join a team that values high-quality patient care, excellent client communication and a positive team culture. The role provides exposure to a broad spectrum of clinical cases, supported by modern diagnostic and surgical equipment. The practice offers access to: A supportive and positive working environment A wide variety of medical and surgical work-ups Ophthalmic microscopy and endoscopy Ultrasonography and X-ray facilities In-house biochemistry, haematology and sediment analysis Advanced dental equipment A dedicated isolation ward A separate theatre for euthanasia procedures Opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development The Ideal Candidate The practice is looking for a full-time Small Animal Veterinarian who: Is passionate about delivering high-quality veterinary care Has excellent communication and client-service skills Works well within a team of veterinarians and support staff Brings a positive, professional attitude to the workplace Is eager to learn, grow and continually develop their clinical skills Is committed to providing compassionate care to both patients and their owners The position involves consecutive or split 7-hour shifts, as well as every third weekend.   • Conducting routine and advanced medical consultations
  • Diagnosing and managing a wide range of small animal medical conditions
  • Performing surgical procedures and overseeing peri-operative patient care

  • Managing in-hospital patients and contributing to treatment planning
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to hospital protocols
