About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible to operates mid-sized commercial vehicles (Code C1, typically 3,500 kg to 16,000 kg Gross Vehicle Mass) to transport goods, stock, or equipment safely between warehouses and customer destinations.

  • Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance: Conduct pretrip and post-trip safety checks, complete vehicle inspection sheets, check oil/water/tires, and record start and end kilometers in the logbook.
  • Route Planning & Execution: Plan and execute multidrop delivery routes efficiently, managing time schedules to meet daily delivery targets.
  • Loading & Offloading: Supervise and assist with loading and unloading stock, ensuring goods are properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
  • Stock & Documentation Verification: Verify that the correct items, quantities, and invoices match the delivery notes, and have customers or store managers check and sign off on delivered stock.
  • Communication & Dispatch: Communicate regularly with the dispatch office or transport coordinator regarding traffic delays, route changes, or undelivered parcels.
  • Customer Service & Compliance: Maintain a professional demeanor, adhere strictly to South African road traffic regulations, and handle cashon-delivery or returns processing if required.

What they're looking for

  • Driver’s License: A valid South African Code 10 (C1) driver's license.
  • Professional Driving Permit (PrDP / PDP): Mandatory legal permit for operating commercial or public transport vehicles.
  • Experience: 2 to 3+ years of proven driving or commercial delivery experience.
  • Skills: Basic map and route knowledge, physical fitness for handling cargo, and reliable time management.
  • Ability to react appropriately in stressful situations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
