About the role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and exceptionally versatile Back-of-House Operations Manager to oversee essential operational functions at an exclusive luxury safari lodge in Zambia.

This is a permanent senior management opportunity for a practical, resourceful hospitality professional with extensive experience across multiple departments.

The ideal candidate will be a genuine hospitality operations all-rounder, capable of taking ownership of maintenance, housekeeping, reservations administration and other critical back-of-house functions.

This is not a traditional Food & Beverage or guest-facing lodge management role.

  • Oversee and coordinate daily back-of-house operations.
  • Manage housekeeping standards, staff performance and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate property maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Support reservations administration, booking coordination and operational communication.
  • Monitor departmental stock, supplies, purchasing and inventory controls.
  • Establish and maintain effective operational systems and procedures.
  • Supervise, train and support staff across multiple departments.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Ensure facilities, equipment and accommodation areas are maintained to excellent standards.
  • Coordinate effectively with senior lodge management and departmental teams.
  • Maintain appropriate health, safety and operational compliance standards.
  • Take responsibility for a broad range of operational requirements as needed.

What they're looking for

  • Extensive senior hospitality operations experience, preferably within luxury safari lodges or remote hospitality properties.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple back-of-house departments.
  • Strong experience in housekeeping management and property maintenance coordination.
  • Working knowledge of reservations administration and general lodge systems.
  • Excellent practical problem-solving ability.
  • Strong staff-management and leadership skills.
  • Good understanding of purchasing, stock control and operational budgets.
  • Confident coordinating maintenance teams, contractors and operational resources.
  • Highly organised, adaptable and capable of working independently.
  • Comfortable taking responsibility beyond a narrowly defined job description.
  • Previous experience in remote luxury hospitality environments highly advantageous.
  • Willing to relocate to Zambia for a permanent appointment.
