About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Bar Manager to lead the bar operation at a busy luxury hotel in Durban. The successful candidate must combine excellent beverage and guest-service knowledge with strong stock controls, staff management and hands-on operational leadership.

• Manage daily bar operations
• Lead, supervise and support bar staff
• Maintain beverage preparation and service standards
• Ensure excellent guest service
• Monitor beverage stock and availability
• Assist with ordering and receiving
• Conduct and support stocktakes
• Control wastage, breakages and stock movement
• Maintain correct storage and stock rotation
• Monitor bar cleanliness and presentation
• Support POS and cash-up procedures
• Train and develop bar staff
• Maintain efficient service during peak periods

What they're looking for

• Previous Bar Manager or strong Bar Supervisor experience
• Hotel, restaurant or busy bar experience
• Strong beverage knowledge
• Knowledge of spirits, wines, beers and cocktails
• Good understanding of stock control
• Staff leadership experience
• POS experience advantageous
• Excellent guest-service skills
• Commercial and cost awareness
• Professional presentation
• Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
