About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-driven Senior Accountant to join the Finance team of a prestigious luxury wine estate in Stellenbosch. This is a senior finance position for an accounting professional with strong technical ability, excellent financial controls and the capacity to operate accurately within a complex, high-standard business environment

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Manage general ledger accounting and reconciliations
• Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations
• Process and review journals
• Assist with month-end and year-end financial close
• Monitor financial controls and accounting procedures
• Assist with budgeting and financial reporting
• Review financial information for accuracy and completeness
• Assist with cash-flow and financial administration
• Support statutory and tax-related financial requirements
• Assist with audit preparation and respond to audit queries
• Maintain accurate supporting documentation
• Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting queries
• Support Finance Management with financial analysis and reporting
• Ensure deadlines and internal financial procedures are consistently met

What they're looking for

• Relevant Accounting or Finance tertiary qualification
• Proven previous experience in a Senior Accountant or comparable accounting role
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
• Excellent reconciliation and general-ledger skills
• Experience with month-end and year-end processes
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems
• High level of numerical accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• Able to work independently and meet strict deadlines
• Professional and confidential when handling financial information
• Hospitality, wine, retail or multi-department business experience advantageous
