About the role

Our client is looking for two reliable Cleaner / Scullery Assistants to join the team at a busy, high-quality restaurant in Observatory, Cape Town. These are hands-on positions combining restaurant cleaning, scullery duties and basic laundry responsibilities. We are looking for hardworking, dependable people who take pride in cleanliness and are comfortable working as part of a busy restaurant team. Applicants must live within approximately 5–10 km of Observatory and be able to travel reliably to and from work, particularly for the late shift. Two positions are available: Day Shift: 09:00 – 18:00 Night Shift: 17:00 – 00:00

Your responsibilities will include:

• Washing dishes, cookware, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Keeping the scullery clean, organised and hygienic
• General cleaning throughout the restaurant
• Cleaning floors, work areas and designated back-of-house spaces
• Assisting with cleaning duties before, during and after service
• Laundry of tablecloths, serviettes and staff uniforms
• Washing, drying, folding and correctly storing laundry items
• Ensuring clean linen and uniforms are available when required
• Following restaurant hygiene, sanitation and cleaning procedures
• Handling cleaning products and equipment responsibly
• Supporting the kitchen and restaurant team wherever cleaning assistance is required

What they're looking for

• Previous experience as a Cleaner, Sculler, Kitchen Cleaner, Steward or similar
• Some previous laundry experience is required
• Comfortable handling restaurant linen, serviettes and uniforms
• Good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene
• Physically fit and comfortable with a busy, hands-on role
• Hardworking, punctual and reliable
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Willing to assist wherever needed
• Able to work the applicable shift consistently
• Must live within 5–10 km of Observatory, Cape Town
• Candidates applying for the night shift must have reliable transport home after midnight
