About the role
Executive Housekeeper – 4-Star Estate | Pretoria An established luxury estate in Pretoria is seeking an experienced, hands-on Executive Housekeeper to lead its housekeeping department. Reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the daily housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, guest service and attention to detail throughout all guest rooms, suites and public areas. This position would suit a strong housekeeping leader with solid experience in staff management, quality control, budgeting, stock management and operational planning within a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
- Lead, supervise and coordinate the daily housekeeping and laundry operations.
- Recruit, train, coach and develop housekeeping team members.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties according to occupancy forecasts and operational requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, suites and public areas.
- Develop and maintain housekeeping procedures, cleaning standards and departmental systems.
- Monitor staff performance and conduct regular performance appraisals.
- Manage departmental budgets, expenses and operational efficiency.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of linen, uniforms, guest supplies and cleaning materials.
- Approve supply requisitions and manage relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, hygiene and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Front Office, Maintenance and other departments regarding guest requests and property-related issues.
- Resolve guest complaints professionally and ensure appropriate service recovery.
- Oversee deep-cleaning, refurbishment and other special housekeeping projects.
- Manage lost-and-found procedures and maintain accurate departmental records.
- Promote a positive, professional and service-focused working environment.
What they're looking for
- Matric or an equivalent qualification.
- A Hospitality Management qualification would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ supervisory or management experience within hotel housekeeping.
- Thorough knowledge of housekeeping procedures, cleaning chemicals, equipment, laundry operations and hygiene standards.
- Strong leadership, organisational and staff-management skills.
- Experience managing housekeeping budgets, stock levels and supplier relationships.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistently high standards.
- Ability to manage guest complaints and resolve operational challenges.
- Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relevant housekeeping or property-management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational requirements.
- Honest, reliable and professional, with a strong guest-service orientation.
Salary
R25 000 – R30 000 per month, highly negotiable depending on experience
