About the role

My Client that specilises in Advanced Manufacturing and custom solutions ( Precision-engineered manufacturing solutions/Custom manufacturing solutions and Plastic injection moulding) seeks a Finance Manager in Manafacturing preferably located in KZN. To ensure accurate financial reports, budgets and forecasts, and to provide financial support to the business. Prepare reports for management summarising the business’ financial position in areas of income, expenses, capital usage and cash flows, and assist with the preparation of strategic plans, budgets and financial forecasts. Apply sound financial management within a manufacturing environment, including cost control, inventory integrity and production cost analysis.

The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial management function within the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with applicable legislation and IFRS for SME. The role provides financial support to operational decision-making, manages budgeting, forecasting and treasury activities, and reports to the Financial Director / CFO. A key focus of this role is the application of sound financial management within a manufacturing environment, including cost control, inventory integrity and production cost analysis.

Job-Specific Key Performance Areas

  • Ongoing financial controlling of the business with regards to budgets, overhead costs, recoveries, cash flow and working capital.
  • Ensure relevant processes and procedures are documented, registered, controlled and implemented in accordance with standard methodologies and practice.
  • Contribute towards preparation of the business’s annual Business Plan.
  • Monthly management accounting and analysis to budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintains financial accounting and costing records of the business covering but not limited to, general ledgers, accounts receivable, inventory ledgers, accounts payable, payroll, and expense reports.
  • Compilation of budgets and forecasts for the year ahead.
  • Audit – liaising with and taking responsibility for external and internal auditor requirements.
  • Preparation of the Income Tax pack.
  • Manage and review monthly General Ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Ownership of VAT and other tax requirements and queries.
  • Continuous assessment, controls and improvement of financial controls and reporting.
  • Responsible for cash flow forecasts, bank reconciliations and performs treasury operations.
  • Responsible for fixed asset register and its reconciliations.
  • Co-ordinate and support internal processes to ensure compliance to business guidelines.
  • Management of financial risk, e.g. insurance.
  • Updating monthly BEE procurement spend and monitoring thereof
  • Providing guidance on technical accounting matters.

Management Reporting

  • Review and analysis of monthly management reports.
  • Preparation of the business’s annual budget pack.

Treasury

  • Treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintaining relationships with the banks.

Manufacturing Finance

  • Oversight of product costing, variance analysis and manufacturing overhead recovery rates.
  • Support operational teams with financial insights into production efficiency and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review and maintain integrity of inventory records, including work-in-progress and finished goods.
  • Provide financial analysis to support make-vs-buy and capital investment decisions.

Ad Hoc

  • Working with the change management team to improve and streamline finance-related processes.
  • Liaising with Head Office Finance to align processes and reporting requirements.

KPA's

Talent Management and Development:

  • Manage, monitor, allocate and schedule the movements and activities of resources under your control.
  • Ensure that all administration such as annual leave, sick leave, time sheets, overtime and expense claims are authorised and approved in line with Jasco Policies.
  • Appoint and promote, where necessary, relevant resources that support the Business objectives, whilst adhering to Jasco’s transformation plans.
  • Ensure annual staff satisfaction surveys are completed.
  • Set staff KPA’s and annual staff performance appraisals and assessments.
  • Ensure that all staff members have completed and updated development plans annually.
  • Ensure and foster a productive Jasco Corporate culture thereby reducing staff turnover in line with general staff turnover targets.

Stakeholders (Internal and External):

  • Provide inputs and support for Customer Satisfaction Surveys, which may be conducted bi-annually.
  • Foster and improve vendor / supplier relationships.

Operational Performance:

  • Participation in annual business planning process including:

▫ Providing inputs into strategic planning and overall business plan process.

▫ Providing inputs and participate in budgeting process.

▫ Providing inputs and participate in annual salary review process.

  • Participation and providing monthly input in monthly business forecasting and review process.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities in line with our Business support systems.
  • Upholding strict and effective SHEQ (including ISO 9001) measures within the business, ensuring that staff meet the requirements of relevant legislation and Jasco Policies in this regard at all times.
  • Structure and provide regular feedback and reporting for all areas of responsibility to the Financial Director.

Growth and Profitability:

  • Achieve growth targets (Order Entry, Turnover, Gross Margin and PBIT) for the business.
  • Analyse and appraise for continuous improvement of the business.
  • Promote all Jasco offerings proactively.

What they're looking for

Formal Qualification Requirements

  • B.Com Accounting degree at a minimum, or equivalent Commerce qualification.
  • SAICA / CIMA / SAIPA registration, or working towards registration, advantageous.

Experience and Competency Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ minimum experience in a similar role is essential.
  • People management experience is essential.
  • Financial management experience.
  • Corporate management accounting experience (expense management, forecasting, budget analysis, debtors).
  • Knowledge of Advanced Excel and accounting software.
  • Manufacturing knowledge would be an added advantage.
  • Hands-on operational involvement.
