About the role

Our client is seeking a practical and dependable Maintenance Attendant to join the maintenance team of an established waterfront hotel in Cape Town. This is a hands-on position for someone with good general maintenance skills who enjoys solving problems and ensuring hotel rooms, public areas, equipment and facilities remain safe, functional and well maintained.

You will assist with day-to-day preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the hotel.

Responsibilities will include:

• Attend to general maintenance requests and reported faults
• Complete minor plumbing, electrical and general building repairs within your level of competence
• Assist with painting, patching, carpentry and basic fixture repairs
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas
• Identify faults and report larger technical issues
• Assist with preventative maintenance programmes
• Respond promptly to operational maintenance requirements
• Maintain tools and work areas appropriately
• Support contractors and senior maintenance personnel where required
• Follow health, safety and hotel maintenance procedures
• Ensure maintenance work is completed with minimal disruption to guests

What they're looking for

• Previous experience in general maintenance, building maintenance or a similar hands-on role
• Hotel or hospitality maintenance experience advantageous
• Practical knowledge across several maintenance disciplines
• Basic plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry knowledge advantageous
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
• Reliable, hardworking and proactive
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional when working in guest-facing areas
• Flexible to work hospitality hours, including weekends and public holidays
