About the role

Our client is seeking an energetic and professional Pass Runner to join the team of an award-winning fine dining restaurant in Stellenbosch. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional with previous restaurant, pass or kitchen experience who thrives in a fast-paced service environment and understands the importance of timing, presentation and attention to detail.

• As a Pass Runner, you will play an important role in ensuring seamless communication and service between the kitchen and Front of House team.
• You will ensure the pass is clean, organised and fully prepared before service, with all mise en place completed and service items ready. Responsibilities include polishing plates, serviceware and cutlery, safely carrying trays of food and ensuring dishes move efficiently from the kitchen to the correct tables.
• You will need a strong understanding of the menu, table numbers and restaurant operation while supporting both chefs and waiters during busy service periods.
• Additional responsibilities include organising empty wine bottles, replenishing condiments and assisting with general restaurant duties as operationally required. You should also be capable of supporting waiter duties when necessary.

What they're looking for

• 1–2 years' previous Pass Runner, restaurant or kitchen experience preferred
• Fine dining or luxury hospitality experience advantageous
• Confident carrying trays and handling plated food safely
• Good understanding of restaurant service and food hygiene
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable interacting with distinguished clientele
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent personal presentation and grooming
• Organised, flexible and accountable
• Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
• Strong teamwork and willingness to assist across the operation
• Able to work restaurant shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
