About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Relief Manager & Field Guide Couple to join a high-end luxury safari lodge in the Sabi Sands. This is a live-in couple position for two established safari hospitality professionals who combine exceptional guest engagement with strong operational ability. One partner will fulfil the Relief Manager function, while the other will join the guiding team as an experienced Field Guide. The successful couple must be genuinely guest driven, hands-on and comfortable becoming an integral part of the lodge team.

Relief Manager

The ideal candidate will currently be working as a Relief Manager, Senior Front of House professional or in a comparable role within a high-end safari lodge or luxury hospitality environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Front of House and daily lodge operations
• Welcome, check-in and induction of guests
• Host guests throughout their stay
• Conduct room and lodge-standard checks
• Complete operational administration and reporting
• Assist with month-end duties
• Coordinate effectively with all lodge departments
• Encourage, support and lead the lodge team
• Maintain exceptional guest-service standards
• Take operational responsibility for the lodge when the Lodge Manager is on leave or away
• Report directly to the Lodge Manager

Field Guide

The Field Guide will be responsible for creating exceptional safari experiences while contributing to the wider lodge operation and guest journey.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct professional guided game drives
• Conduct guided walks where appropriately qualified
• Provide engaging and informative safari experiences
• Host and interact with guests beyond guiding activities
• Maintain guiding equipment and vehicles to appropriate standards
• Assist with basic vehicle maintenance
• Support lodge maintenance and operational requirements on an ad hoc basis
• Work collaboratively with the lodge and guiding teams
• Report directly to the Lodge Manager

What they're looking for

Relief Manager Requirements

• Current/recent luxury lodge Relief Manager or Senior Front of House experience
• Genuine passion for hospitality and personalised guest service
• Hospitality-related qualification preferred
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office
• Experience with reservation and finance systems
• Confident team leadership ability
• Professional, warm and highly guest focused
• Valid driver's licence

Field Guide Requirements

• Qualified and experienced Field Guide
• FGASA Level 3 preferred
• Appropriate guiding qualifications and certifications for activities conducted
• Previous experience within a luxury safari lodge environment strongly preferred
• Excellent guest-hosting and communication skills
• Strong bush knowledge and genuine passion for conservation and guiding
• Practical and hands-on approach
• Comfortable assisting with broader lodge operations when required
• Valid driver's licence and relevant professional driving requirements

Please note: The accommodation is not pet friendly. The position is ideally suited to a couple without dependent children, although individual circumstances may be discussed with shortlisted candidates.

Salary & Benefits

Relief Manager

Cash Salary: Up to R24,000 per month

Field Guide

Cash Salary: Market Related according to FGASA level, qualifications and experience
