About the role
South African citizens only. Permanent vacancy. Full-time onsite in Alberton (NO hybrid or remote work). Travelling: Must be prepared to travel to sites across Gauteng region and other regions within South Africa. Minimum 4 – 5 years’ experience required as a Site Foreman/Assistant PM. Must have a valid driver’s license and own car. Musty have work experience in the Telecoms/ISP/Fibre industry. Clean ITC/credit record and no criminal record. Reference: Site Foreman/Assistant PM (Telecoms) TB Salary package: CTC market-related and negotiable (depending on the candidate’s skills, experience & qualifications). First 3 months of probation period includes only the basic salary. After the 3-month probation period compulsory benefits kick in namely Discovery Key Core Plus medical aid (50% employee contribution & 50% employer contribution) and the Group Life Cover which is 100% paid by the employer.
Travelling involved:

Main job functions:
- Recruiting an experienced Site Foreman / Assistant Project Manager to assist with the successful delivery of fibre network construction and infrastructure projects.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day site supervision, contractor coordination, quality control and project administration, ensuring that work is completed safely, according to approved plans, within agreed timelines and to the required quality standards.
Job functions:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities on fibre construction sites.
- Manage and monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure work is completed according to project requirements.
- Read, interpret and work from fibre network layouts, site plans, construction drawings and technical documentation.
- Monitor progress against project schedules and report any delays or risks to the Project Manager.
- Ensure that contractors comply with approved construction methods, specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify defects, deviations or incomplete work.
- Coordinate activities such as trenching, duct installation, chambers/manholes, fibre installation, reinstatement and associated civil works.
- Verify that work is being carried out according to approved routes and designs.
- Assist with coordinating site access, materials, equipment and resources.
- Maintain accurate site records, photographs, daily reports and project documentation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, local communities and other project stakeholders where required.
- Assist the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling and progress reporting.
- Track contractor performance and escalate issues where necessary.
- Assist with checking contractor work completed against scope before sign-off.
- Monitor material usage and identify potential wastage or shortages.
- Ensure that site activities comply with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Assist with project handover, snagging and close-out activities.
- Attend project meetings and provide updates on site progress.
- Perform general project coordination and administration as required.
What they're looking for
- A minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience is required in a Site Foreman/Assistant Project Manager role.
- Matric/Senior Certificate.
- Advantageous: Project management qualification or relevant construction qualification.
- Must have experience in FTTH/FTTB fibre deployment and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Experience supervising or coordinating contractors and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of fibre network construction and civil works.
- Knowledge of construction health and safety requirements.
- Experience with fibre routes, ducts, chambers, trenching and reinstatement.
- Experience working with municipalities, communities or wayleave requirements.
- Experience with project budgets, procurement, client management and contractor claims.
- Ability to read and understand site plans, construction drawings and/or fibre network plans.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, SharePoint or project-management systems.
- Good understanding of site construction processes.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Good communication skills in dealing with contractors, clients and site teams.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
