About the role

Our client is looking for a practical and hardworking Maintenance All-Rounder to join the team at a luxury safari lodge in the Addo area of the Eastern Cape. This is not a Maintenance Manager or senior supervisory position. We are looking for a genuine hands-on tradesperson and jack of all trades — someone who enjoys fixing things, solving practical problems and getting stuck into whatever maintenance work the lodge requires. This is a live-in position and would particularly suit someone accustomed to working in a lodge, farm, rural property or similarly hands-on environment.

You will assist with the everyday maintenance, repairs and upkeep required to keep a busy luxury lodge operating smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

• General building and property maintenance
• Basic plumbing repairs and fault finding
• Basic electrical work within your level of competence
• Carpentry and furniture repairs
• Painting, patching and general upkeep
• Repairs to doors, locks, fittings and fixtures
• Attend to maintenance issues in guest accommodation and public areas
• Assist with equipment and general infrastructure maintenance
• Complete routine preventative maintenance checks
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and urgent repairs
• Maintain tools and maintenance work areas
• Identify problems requiring specialist attention
• Assist with general projects and property upkeep wherever needed

What they're looking for

• Previous practical experience in general maintenance, building maintenance or a trade-related role
• Trade experience or a practical technical background highly advantageous
• Good working knowledge across several areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and general repairs
• Strong practical fault-finding ability
• Able to work with tools confidently
• Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
• Resourceful and solutions driven
• Hardworking with a strong work ethic
• Reliable and able to work without constant supervision
• Willing to assist outside a narrow job description when the operation requires it
• Previous safari lodge, hotel, farm or remote property maintenance experience advantageous
• Comfortable living and working in the Addo area
• Candidates based in or familiar with the Eastern Cape are encouraged to apply

Salary & Benefits

Salary: R12,000 – R15,000 per month
