About the role
Our client, a well-established small-animal clinic in the beautiful coastal town of Melkbosstrand, is seeking a skilled, dedicated, and qualified Veterinarian to join their friendly and supportive team. This opportunity is available on either a part-time or full-time basis. One of the clinic’s permanent veterinarians will be on maternity leave from early May to the end of August, and the practice is therefore looking for a reliable locum Veterinarian to cover these shifts. The locum role offers a balanced schedule of: 6-hour shifts every weekday 4 hours every second Saturday In addition to the locum position, the practice is also open to appointing a permanent Veterinarian, with part-time hours consisting of half-day shifts during the week and alternating Saturdays—ideal for candidates seeking long-term stability with flexibility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about small animal care, confident in general clinical work, and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team in a community-focused practice. - Conduct thorough assessments, examinations, and diagnoses of patients’ medical conditions.
- Perform surgical procedures, wound care, and treatments.
- Carry out diagnostic laboratory work, imaging, and ultrasound where required.
- Prescribe and manage appropriate medical treatments.
- Promote preventative health through vaccinations and wellness care.
- Educate and guide clients on optimal pet care and lifestyle choices.
- Perform humane euthanasia when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics, policies, and legislation.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
